Anyone who agrees must tell state officials no later than January 2008. After that it's too late.

About Virginia's Commitment

Virginia’s Commitment, a not-for-profit organization,is a coalition of concerned citizens, homeowners, landowners, consumers and business people which seeks 21st century approaches to promote Virginia’s growth and prosperity.

Dominion Power plans to buy power from polluting, coal-fired Ohio River Valley generating plants, and transmit the electricity across Virginia on monster towers, so that the power company can sell the energy to customers in New Jersey, New York and other states north of Virginia.

Virginia’s Commitment believes that’s wrong.

Our organization's goal is raise public awareness of Dominion Power's plan so that the State Corporation Commission denies the power company's request. We are urging those who share our concerns to:

  • call, write and email mayors, county boards of supervisors, state senators & delegates, and U.S. congressmen and senators
  • call, write and email the State Corporation Commission
  • email neighbors, friends, employers, write letters-to-the-editor, and lend their names to sign-on letter and letters of resolutions

Through Virginia’s Commitment’s website and grassroots outreach, we are making it easier to know the facts, propose alternatives, and speak out on the issue.
